Psychotherapy for Adults
Hello, and welcome to my website. Choosing a therapist is an important decision, and I'd like to provide you with some information about my background and how I work so that you can begin to consider whether or not I might be the right fit for you. If you would like to know more, I'd be happy to speak with you by phone.
Psychotherapy can alleviate psychological pain, help you know yourself better, and create opportunities to build healthier relationships. We will work together to get to know you, paying attention to your cultural context. This endeavor can bring to your awareness important unnoticed or unnamed patterns of thinking and behaving that have been causing you pain or difficulty. Most importantly, sharing your story with someone who empathizes can bring great relief.
I primarily employ relational, psychodynamic, and multicultural approaches. This means that I pay attention to the unconscious mind, and I think about the ways in which early relationships and cultural identities have impacted your internal world and how you presently relate to others, including me. Together, we will help you access and manage your feelings and gain insight into the patterns of relating that you bring into the room. I have found that people who reflect on themselves and receive emotional resonance from their therapist feel more genuine, content, and connected to others. At its best, psychotherapy is a collaborative, supportive journey toward your self-discovery, helping you heal old wounds and effect change in your life so that you feel more fulfilled.
I have worked with patients from a range of racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds, including college students, older adults, veterans, and people who identify as LGBTQIA. Please also feel free to look at my profile on Psychology Today.
